DON’T be alarmed if you spot Darth Vader, Doctor Who and the Alien prowling around a Bournemouth leisure centre.

The characters are set to feature at the Star Wars 30th Anniversary Fan Celebration and Sci-fi Fair at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth on Saturday, June 5.

In addition there will be models of R2D2, a life-size Tardis and scale replicas of the Starship Enterprise and the Liberator from 1970s series Blake’s 7 at the event from 10am to 6pm – plus an after-show party.

Actors Kenny Baker, who played R2D2; Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader; Bond girl Caroline Munro and former Doctor Who Colin Baker will be available for autographs and to chat to fans.

Star Wars fan David Tarrant, 31, who organises the event with brother Chris, 40, said: “There was nothing like it in this area and friends of mine said: ‘Can you do one in Bournemouth?’ “We are going to have lots of characters from Star Wars, the Tardis from Dr Who, K9 the robot dog and lots of Daleks.”

Other actors set to appear include Michael Henbury, who played a goblin in Labyrinth, and Ian Whyte, who reprised his famous Predator role most recently in the Alien Vs Predator film.

Some actors will mingle with guests at the after-show party and the event also raises some money for charity.

Far from being terrified by the monsters, children love it when they creep up and give them a hug, added David.

“They see that these monsters aren’t really that scary,” he joked.

Tickets on the door cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. The evening party costs £20 for adults and £10 for children. For more details visit scifisouthcollectors.co.uk or ring David Tarrant on 07971 078275.
