Have you had your say yet on Imax?

MORE than 2,200 people have so far taken part in a council survey to help decide what should take the place of the unpopular Imax building on Bournemouth seafront.

Residents now have less than a week left to rate the seven options shortlisted by the council for the prestigious Waterfront site.

The online survey takes a few minutes to complete and can be found at bournemouth.gov.uk/waterfront. It closes at 5pm on Thursday.

Alternatively, people can discuss the plans at a Westcliff community open meeting on Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm in St Michael’s School, or at Southbourne Area Forum on Thursday from 7pm in Immanuel Church, Southbourne Road.

The shortlisted ideas include l a water park l an interactive arts activity centre and museum l tropical gardens l a spa l a performing arts space with amphitheatre l a family play park l boutiques and bistros.

Council leader Cllr Stephen MacLoughlin said: “I am delighted that so many people have taken part in the consultation.

“This feedback will influence the council’s decisions about the Imax replacement, so please don’t miss out on the opportunity to be part of creating something very exciting for Bournemouth.”

The council stresses that the aim of the new development will be to improve the sea views and create an all-weather attraction that is commercially viable, successful and can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life.

It also wants to create a building of which residents can be proud.

I asked for a Spa... Like the main Spa in Bath. A heated rooftop pool with sea view would be lush!

I think a massive 300 foot high pole with a gigantic pair of goolies at the top of it with masses of flashing lights that spells out 'O.K.A.Y T.O. W.A.T.C.H...P.O.R.N.
"

This should be in honour of the gargantuan balls up or truly biblical proportions that BCC have so magnificently accomplished in rubbishing the good name of Bournemouth with their 3 epic fluff ups

1) The IMAX White Elephant - and buying back their own lease with tax payers money. Even Jimmy Connor's backhand was nothing compared to your skills.

2) The Surf Reef - £3,655,454 - wasted tax payers money on a doomed White Elephant which by the way will NEVER work no matter how many 'tweaks' you give it (explain to me please council morons how you 'Tweak' 1000 tonnes of sand in bags on the sea bed?)

3) Mr Spanky McPersonal-Bits and his incredible ability to keep his job whilst sacking others for lesser offences.

I was chatting to someone well respected in the City and when he asked where I lived and I said Bournemouth he said, and I quote, 'Ah that would be the backhanded seaside town full of liars and bent Councils workers and werent you mugged for £3.6m for a dodgy reef that the company who built them have never made a single one that works anywhere in the world' and he laughed all the way down the corridor.

Well done BCC....I will salute your goolies on a pole if you erect it on the site of the IMAX.

The biggest balls up monument in Europe...well done to you all

I have, but I fear the commonsense approach of leaving it as an Imax 3D cinema and ensuring it was operated by a reputable company will go unheeded. The Council idiots and "View Merchants" are intent on wasting millions more of ratepayers cash on what (as all Council run schemes have) will turn into a farce.

Ooooh ooooh ooooh I just had an idea!!! Monorail!! Monorail!!

Poole don't have a Monorail so let's spend £12m on a Monorail before Poole do and we will be the talk of the South.

What do you mean Monorails don't work? Well we'd better spend the £12m just incase.

Seriously though - half Ice Rink and half open air spa for 12 months a year and whilst you are are it, chop the back off it to give us back our view this winning favour with the public to back and support the new venue.

BCC it really isnt difficult.

Since Bournemouth Council have demonstrated many times in the past that they refuse to be swayed by Public Opinion, what's the point?

BCC will do what THEY want!

This is just a huge PR stunt, don't be fooled into thinking that they give a monkey's about our opinions. Having said that, it is worth taking part in the survey just to prove the point when they do something that nobody wants with the site.

All that will happen is the pockets of "consultants" will be lined with a bit more ratepayers cash.
Who exactly are these "consultants" ex-councillors or ex-council employees from another town perhaps?
Jobs for the boys!!
