Fertility review is ‘making progress’


A REVIEW that led to infertility services being suspended at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital is making good progress, health officials have said.

Up to 200 couples are thought to have had their appointments at the infertility clinic abruptly cancelled towards the end of February, leading to widespread anger and criticism about lack of communication from the hospital.

By now, all affected couples should have received a telephone call and a letter from the chief executives of NHS Bournemouth and Poole, which commissions the services, and the hospital trust itself.

The review is looking at the waiting lists for infertility services to find out whether the people on them still meet the criteria for receiving NHS treatment.
