We want to hear from BA passengers and staff

BRITISH Airways is expected to announce today the flights likely to be cancelled because of a strike planned by cabin crew for next weekend.

The dispute is over reduced staffing levels and pay at the airline, with the first strike due to start on 20 March.

We would like to hear from passengers affected by the strike and BA staff.

Over £20,000 a year with free flights to anywhere in the world and they want to strile just because BA want to reduce the long haul cabin crew by one person, for that the full air fare paying public have their holidays cancelled or disrupted. BA Cabin crew deserve no sympathy and should stop being greedy and selfish when it comes to holding passengers to ransom to get what they want. After all BA cabin crew can fly free whenever they want to...and sod the rest. Personally I am routing for BA and suggest they sack the lot of them and employ people who would be more than grateful for a full time post.

I too am backing BA. The BASSA and the Unite Unionists will bring BA to its knees if not careful. The majority of all other BA Staff are also against what the Cabin Staff are doing, as it affects them also. BA Cabin Crew ought to look at othe airlines such as Ryanair who only have a salary of upto £14000 per year, and have no perks, and have to buy their own food and drinks when at work. BA Cabin Crew should be thankful for what they get, including all the free flights and hotels (long haul crews normally get 4 days rest after one flight before return). Basically it is only Heathrow, because Gatwick and London City are run differently. Of course then there is the fact that Unite give lots of money to the Labour Party, perhaps the reason for not too much intervention by the Labour Party and Gordon Brown.

On £20,000 a year they would never be able to buy a bedsit let alone a flat or house.

same old slagging of the unions!!!! never mind the fact that it is the company with whom all these holiday makers have a contract. it is the COMPANY responsibility to complete the contact. It is the COMPANY who are causing this strike!! Cabin crew should not be thankful for anything they have got. It will have been won through hard negotiation not given tot hem on a plate!!! What about Willie Walsh on his £750,000 a year PLUS bonuses !! Yes plus bonuses now correct me if I'm wrong but i thought bonuses were for success not leading an airline into massive debts and losses!!!!

BA cabin crews free flights were an incentive not a BONUS...if it were a Bonus then it should have been withdrawn years ago!

traindriver, another unionist no doubt, something like the RMT, another following who likes to disrupt passengers going about their business or holidays. BA have set out details which in the long will save more jobs, and be beneficial to BA itself. If these implications are not introduced then the company could fold. Of course being a unionist you only see what those who are willing to ruin the whole scenario, want out of it. Unions, the bain of this country, and achieve nothing, but hardship. BA Cabin Crew, dont strike. You will get a better wage working, plus your perks and benefits, rather than a poor pittance of a strike pay whilst the Unions get a full wage, so they can give the Labour Party another £11m

Unlike most people ranting about BA and the crew Unions ,I actually have knowledge and facts as i was a Canbin Crew member for 25yrs until i took VR in Oct.
Yes it was once a well paid job, that was because of the long hours and the unsocial aspect of the job.But now its around £14000 pa basic.
Thousands appplied every year for BA as it was deemed the best company to work for and only a very select few got in. Things have now changed and people think that all jobs should be done on the lowest cost level. Just a shame that does not apply to the managers in BA who are paid way above markets rates.
The staff do not get free flights and never have done . They have a few flights a year that they are allowed to standby for if seats are available.
All airlines do this not just BA.It used to be a good perk but as all perks its been chipped away, unless u are a top manager who has worked for BA a few months then you get free travel in 1st for life.
I am so disgusted at the media who keep misinforming everyone of whats going on.The crew have bent over backwards and as early as last april were happy accept the deal that was done with flight crew but at the last minute Willie Walsh changed the goal posts. (But not for flight Crew)
Why don't the media do a little investagtive journalism and find out why part of BA HQ was blacked out and only people with special passses were allowed to go anywhere nr there, way before there was any industrial troubles . Willie Walsh wants only one thing and that is to destoy a Union which has been incredibly moderate over the years which included working towards the £1bn profit BA made last year .
Why do the media stay quiet about the huge fines BA is having to pay around the world??Millions of pounds because of bad management, yet W W has cornered his loyal workers and thrusting them into a strike they do not want and the difference is only around £10m. Funny about the same as his Bous if he gets this through.
I hope you all end up on minimum wage .Wake up this country is changing so fast and all u want is to watch Xfactor on TV !!
By the way in my career i saved 22 lives delivered 3 babies and made hundreds of thousands people flights a pleasurable one .But who cares ????

you make areal fool of yourself a Again don't you! as you were told on another post you clearly know nothing about trade unionism, as a unionist is generally a member of the conservative and unionist party ( correct name of the Tory party) or a Northern Ireland politician. But also that very few train drivers are in RMT. Infact my union has only had its drivers at my company on strike once ( for one day) since 1982 ( hardly the left wing bully boys you elude to huh??????) the bain of this country is the conservative party of which I'm sure your a fully paid up member. Shame you don't even know their correct name though isn't it

I think it's about time BA cabin crew realised how overpaid they are before their union strikes them into oblivion.

Maybe when Walsh accepts how over paid he is they will!!! The savings made by even their proposals are insignificant compared to the costs of the price fixing scandal that the company management led this company into. The corrupt management are a large cause of the problem. Let them pay the price and then and only then if more cuts are needed come to the staff!
