MORE than 1,000 people have already completed the survey on what should replace Bournemouth’s Imax building.
The short questionnaire has been available on the council’s website since March 1 and you have until March 25 to have your say.
“To receive over 1,000 responses in seven days shows people have a real interest in this site,” said council leader Cllr Stephen MacLoughlin.
“It proves people are just as united in support for the positive development of their seafront as they are in their desire to see the current building gone.”
The seven short-listed ideas are: a water park; an interactive arts activity centre and museum; tropical gardens; a spa; a performing arts space and amphitheatre; a family play park; boutiques and bistros.
People can also download a form from the council’s website and post it in.
Bournemouth council bought the complex for £5 million in January.
Another £2.5m has been set aside either pay off the leaseholders inside or fund a compulsory purchase order. The council's cabinet will meet on April 29 to consider the survey results and any financial or technical constraints.
It will then decide which options to recommend for further in depth studies before a final decision is made on June 23. The Imax will also be up for discussion at three coming Area Forum meetings.
They are:
•Springbourne – Wednesday, March 17, 7pm at Bourne Spring Trust, St Mary’s Road.
•West Cliff – Tuesday, March 23, 7pm at St Michael’s School.
•Southbourne – Thursday, March 25, 7pm at Emmanuel Church, Southbourne Road.

Lets be upbeat- the council HAVE bought the site back- it IS getting demolished and the town can move on and be rewarded with something fantastic. I think the council ARE listening and doing what they can for the good of the town.
.
We, the public wanted consultation- and we've got it. Now is not the time to moan. Now is the time to say what you have to say about its future.

Thats strange because the report to Council states that after the purchase of £5.34M another £3.16M will be needed from Prudential borrowing which has to be repaid from income generated by that investment so no cost falls on the Council Tax payer
So not only is the total cost, just to get an empty building that nobody knows whats its going to be used for,
£8.5M not £7.5M the extra money is going to be borrowed not from Council coffers
To generate the repayment will be a clever trick unless the site is used as a car park
Finally whilst Cllr Macloughlin continues to spin a line as to the consultation perhaps it should be remembered that the report also says that it is likely that the building will be transfered to the new asset holding company where the developer will hold sway
