POOLE'S Twin Sails bridge has finally secured vital government funding.
After a nervewracking delay, the Department of Transport handed the town the news it had been waiting for - confirmation of the £14.1 million grant for the scheme.
It means all the funding for the £37 million project is now in place.
Work is expected to start in early summer and take around 20 months.

A higher fixed bridge might have been the better option, I think Poole council thought so, before the public enquiry rejected the idea, but now it is going to be a second lifting bridge so we will all have to live with it.
Personally I think a fly-over would have been preferable to this monstrosity.
Now people driving to Poole from Hamworthy will have to wait for TWO bridges to close in order to get to the other side.
What a load of b*****ks!
