Add your voice to World Cup anthem

YOUR country needs you! With no official World Cup anthem this summer, Dorset roots rock band State of Undress have taken it upon themselves to organise a true people’s anthem to inspire our boys to glory in South Africa.

Having come up with a singalong song called This Time – England, the band needs a choir of football fans to back them and have put together a recording and filming session at Christchurch Football Club, Hurn Bridge, on Monday from 4pm.

“When we first heard there wasn’t going to be an official England World Cup Anthem, we thought ‘We can’t have that!’,” says Alan Rose, State of Undress guitarist, co-writer and ardent football fan.

The band have been garnering local support and the project is very much a community initiative.

“We’ve had fantastic help and good-will from loads of people,” explains singer Charlie Rose, who wrote the lyrics. “And we’ve been getting a great response to the song when we’ve played it live. We just want to get a good crowd at Hurn Bridge to make the best recording and video that we can!”

Fans are being encouraged to turn up with England football shirts, banners and face paints.

“If you can’t be there in person, you can still be part of the recording,” says Charlie. “Just film yourself singing ‘This Time oh oh oh This Time oh oh oh’ and post it on the State of Undress Facebook site. If you can stand under a sign saying ‘Welcome to...’ or a famous local landmark – even better – anything to show that this is a nationwide movement. Come on, everyone, This Time England needs you!”

Good luck Boys but true England fans should also have a listen to the England World Cup Song `Green Fields of England` by George and the Dragons. It is getting national airplay in the UK on Talksport and can hear it at www.green-fields-of-

My kids have got a song.
It goes "Come on Aussie, come on, come on.
Come on Aussie come on!
Terrible tune, lousy lyrics but if it works at the cricket (sometimes) it might work at the World Cup.
Family first.
Always!
