AROUND 100 fire fighters were tackling a blaze on two hectares of heath land at Bovington on Tuesday evening.
Crews were alerted to the fire at around 8pm. Once on scene they requested back up.
Around 15 fire engines and eight Land Rovers were sent to the scene of the fire believed to be located partly on army land.
The fire was still raging at 10pm.
A spokesperson for Dorset Fire and Rescue said there was no information yet as to whether the fire was deliberate.
She added that they do not believe that anyone was injured and no properties had to be evacuated.
