BOURNEMOUTH'S lower gardens lit up as 100 red lanterns were hung up in advance of Chinese New Year on February 14.
Along with pupils and volunteers from the Bournemouth Chinese School, Betty Yeung and Joyce Yuen prepared for the celebrations ahead.
February 15 sees the start of the celebrations at Bournemouth Library at 10am with a lantern workshop for children. The festivities will continue into the gardens finishing at the Town Hall for a dragon dance at 3pm, where the mayor will also be celebrating 200 years of Bournemouth.
The lanterns will be seen across Castlepoint, Bournemouth Library and Poole Civic Centre and will be brightening up Bournemouth until March.
The lantern festival will be celebrated on February 21 at The Bishop of Winchester School. For tickets and more information contact Betty at bscbettyyeung04@yahoo.co.uk.
