THE company behind Bournemouth’s Imax has announced it will reopen the giant-screen cinema “at the earliest possible opportunity”.
Last week Bournemouth council shelled out £5 million for the head lease of the Imax building. It had set aside another £2.5m for buying out the tenants – including Sheridan – and “substantially demolishing” the building.
But Imax operator Sheridan, which has a lease in the Waterfront building until 2149, says instead of leaving it will reopen the cinema and start showing the latest 3D films.
