AS high-class heists go, this attempted burglary of a convenience store in Christchurch might not make the cut.
Offenders are believed to have spent days from last Friday until Monday unsuccessfully attempting to drill through a side wall of the One Stop Community Store in Hunt Road, Somerford.
Police in Christchurch were alerted on Tuesday to the large hole, which had been created in one of the store’s side walls, with a number of drills also recovered at the scene.
PC Leo Glendon said: “An elderly occupant of a nearby house recalls a large noise between 11pm on Friday December 4 and 2am on Saturday December 5.
“Staff at the One Stop also recall a drilling noise during the afternoons of Sunday December 6 and Monday December 7.
“I believe that the offenders may have been attempting to break in to the One Stop on all four of these days.”
Although no description of the offenders is available, PC Glendon said he believes the offenders are local people.”
