PANTO star Su Pollard is being investigated by police after a dispute broke out in a busy Bournemouth street.

Officers were called to Poole Road, Westbourne, at 2.30pm on Monday after reports of a public order offence involving the flamboyant Hi-De-Hi star, who is currently appearing at Bournemouth Pavilion as the Wicked Queen in the Christmas pantomime Snow White.

The star on Monday night admitted there had been a disagreement but dismissed the incident.

Disabled Sue Sanderson, 52, from Poole, told the Daily Echo how she had called the police after Pollard’s taxi had reversed into her car.

She said: “I was in a disabled parking space. I suffer from acute osteoarthritis and have difficulty walking. I have a blue badge and was entitled to be there but the taxi driver wasn’t.

“There was a collision and while I was talking to the taxi driver Su Pollard started swearing. She stormed across the road.

“She was quite a spectacle in her pink and black striped leggings, a short black skirt and bright pink pillbox hat. She was waving her arms around and brought the traffic to a complete standstill.

“When I told her I’d phoned the police she stormed off after saying: ‘You know who I am, I’m an actress’.”

A member of staff at nearby Greggs said: “When I returned from my lunch break people were dispersing and staff mentioned there had been some sort of disagreement.”

A Dorset police spokesman confirmed that officers had been called following reports of a public order offence. He added that no arrests had been made.

Late on Monday afternoon Su Pollard was among guests at the launch of the BIC’s winter ice-rink.

Dressed in her pantomime costume, she dismissed the incident, saying: “I don’t know what happened. I think this lady thought we were being rude because we went in a disabled bay.”

She did not elaborate further, adding: “No comment.”
