BRITAIN’S Got Talent winners Diversity – showing no sign of suffering the plummet in popularity curse of many reality TV show champions – are to visit Bournemouth as part of a major tour.
The hip-hop dancers have sold some 20,000 tickets for their first UK tour next spring in just 24 hours, selling out nearly every show and prompting them to announce more dates, including the BIC on April 11.
Diversity will be joined by Britain’s Got Talent star Aidan Davis and special guests in an innovative show based around the concept of bringing toys to life.
“We are so thrilled by the reaction of the public to our debut tour,” says group leader Ashley Banjo. “We’ve had to add a load more dates just to cope with the incredible demand – I can’t thank the fans enough for their support.
“Now we just want to get out there and put on a show that will blow people away. It promises to be a fantastic experience – there will be unbelievable routines integrated in a storyline full of surprises with special guest artists.”
And he adds: “I think a lot of people will be surprised with what we’ve come up with.
“This won’t just be a series of dances that you have seen us perform on TV. We will be bringing a toy story to life!”
Incorporating musical genres ranging from classical to hip-hop, Diversity’s eye-catching routines won the hearts of the nation with nearly 20 million viewers in the UK glued to their television screens to see Diversity overcome the odds and sweep to Britain’s Got Talent victory in May.
Formed in 2007, in memory of a friend, the dance troupe consists of 11 members from East London and Essex ranging in age from 13 to 26, including three sets of brothers – Ashley and Jordan Banjo; Ian, Jamie and Matthew McNaughton; and Sam and Mitchell Craske – complemented by four of their best friends – Terry Smith, Ike Ezekwugo, Warren Russell and Perri Luc Kiely.
Tickets go on sale from usual outlets at 9.30am today.
