Mum of missing Ai'ishah facing "financial ruin"

THE mum of missing toddler A’ishah Sabra says she is facing financial ruin trying to find her daughter.

Leila Sabra has been living in Egypt for the last two months and is quickly running out of money.

At the beginning of November, Egypt’s top prosecutor ordered the state police to find A’ishah and reunite her with Leila.

But despite efforts to locate the two-year-old she has still not been found and Leila says she fears for her daughter’s safety.

A’ishah went missing in Egypt on May 16 while on holiday with Leila and the toddler’s Bournemouth grandmother Barbara Maas in the resort of Hurghada.

Leila claims A’ishah was bundled into the back of a car by her father Saber Mesbah Sabra but he insists he had nothing to do with her disappearance.

Speaking to the Daily Echo yesterday, Leila said: “I really am in a bad situation. I am only eating once a day and even if I did find A’ishah I wouldn’t have the money to fly her back home.”

She said the British Embassy was being fully supportive and praised her legal team from GI Legal. “They are working round the clock,” she said.

“But my little girl has still not been found. I am in a desperate situation just waiting for the phone to ring.

“A two-and-a-half-year-old is still out there without her mother. I fear for her safety.

“I am really, really worried about her.”

Leila will return to the courts next week to hear a decision on whether she has been granted full custody of A’ishah.

l A Facebook group has been set up for A’ishah – Bring two year old A’ishah Sabra home – and details of how to donate funds to Leila are included.
