Massive traffic queues on A31 at Picket Post

TRAFFIC is this morning queuing back to Picket Post, Hampshire.

One motorist told the Echo he had spent 45 minutes more than normal in the queue and tempers of those in the queue had flared.

Work continues on the A338 Spur Road into Bournemouth.

Police say it not clear what is causing the problem.

The police say they are not sure what is causing the tailbacks ,, really really ,, and the council had no idea on the disruption the work on the a338 would cause BRILLIANT

Well lets hope they dont find out they will only make it worse.

Ben111 you are right, it is the a338 roadworks, but they are all turning a blind eye, after all the roadworks come under dorset council wheras ringwood, and picket post come under Hampshire, surely you wouldn't expect them to talk to each other? These works should be worked on 24x7, to get the road cleared asap, its actually quicker for me to drive from ringwood to west quay than ringwood to bournemouth when you add the 30-45min delay on, so it also going to affect xmas shoppers trying to get into bournemouth to.
Rediculous.

I know but looking at the 24-7 option for the council probably looked to expensive ,, but if you take into consideration the hours lost by people working in Bournemouth and revenue lost through people avoiding the area , it would make sense to work day and night on it , i run my own business in ringwood and have a small drive from Wallisdown each day .. Now i leave for home before or after the rush hour if pos to avoid the worst of it ,, maybe one of the good points is people will probably stay in the area to shop instead of making a trip to southampton even though westquay is a far better shopping experiance than the WELL planned Castle point ..

I also run my own literercy classes and always get held up on my way in and out of Bournmouth especially at traffic lights on red.

Don't be silly that would be far to easy and considerate to the local businesses and comuters , plus they might have to employ a couple more people to move the cones ,, and we can't have that

Why should temper's flare it just a traffic queue .

If the journey to work is to much stress move closer to work. Spend more time with the family rather than the car in front's number plate.

What a ridiculous comment from pd7! People have to work away from home to earn the money to keep the family and pay the costs of housing etc. Nobody commutes for the fun of it. We would all ove to spend more time with family but it would be no point of we lose our homes and can't pay the grocery bills etc. Stupid person!

It's probably a hole in the road somewhere, but don't worry, police are looking into it.

Its called work life balance .
Up at 7 , a battle to get to work arrive stressed , leave at 6 another 2 hour stress arrived home stressed .

Just think of the cost in time, fuel and stress.

Thats not life its a "job slave".

Yes I commute , but at times that suit me and the family . And far greater distances than the A31/M27 rat run . And between 07:00 and 09:00 forget it.

Its all in the planning. Speak to your boss arange core time that fits in with low density traffic flows , work from home . But sit in a jam buring up fuel paying more tax on fuel worring about being late , missing putting the kids to bed ,microwave meals .... Never.

Stupid no , organised yes.

Literacy teacher should learn how to spell literacy, and Bournemouth. You couldn't make it up.

On my way home yesterday I noticed that the section of A31 between azalea roundabout and the a31 ferndown bypass has been resurfaced. went out and came back a bit late 11pm ish guess what, over night works on the a31 to resurface the road. This morning there is now a large section between the roundabouts on the eastbound carriageway of fresh new road surface. Appreciate that the spur road is a bit longer, but the section they are actually working on is not, so no excuses, they can do it, they just don't, because they are too busy closing car parks and wasting money on palm trees in holdenhurst road

You run your own literacy classes yet cannot spell literacy or Bournemouth?

Sigh.
