A MUM came home to discover vandals had smashed up her seriously ill baby’s cot and toys.
Single mum Katie Chowdhiry’s15-month old baby Amie has chronic lung disease and developmental problems.
The 22-year-old from Parkstone in Poole discovered the damage when she came home with Amie on Saturday morning after going out with a friend.
The tearful mum told the Daily Echo: “It’s horrible. I wouldn’t have been bothered if it was just my stuff, but it’s my daughter’s things too. She’s in and out of hospital all the time.”
Amie’s favourite toys were ruined; a musical elephant and a giant teddy were left covered in suspected lighter fluid. The intruders had strewn clothes about, poured lighter fluid over the bathroom and destroyed a £600 mirror.
Katie’s hamster’s cage had been smashed but the animal was unharmed.
“It looks like they came in through a window and smashed the whole place to pieces,” she said. “They’ve even taken the doors off their hinges.
“I don’t know who would’ve done it. I don’t have any issues with anyone. I couldn’t afford house insurance.”
Dorset Police confirmed they are investigating the burglary.
