A BLAZE broke out in the top floor of a derelict hotel near Bournemouth’s town centre.
Firefighters were called to the former Diplomat Hotel in Durley Chine Road at 11am today (Friday November 6) by members of the public.
They found a fire in the top floor of part of the building had spread to the rest of that floor. The road was closed while the blaze was brought under control.
Station manager Steve Isaacs of Springbourne said: “There was no one in there when we arrived and we didn’t need to evacuate or rescue anybody. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
The hotel has previously been targeted by squatters. An application has been submitted to build 14 flats on the site.
