A commemorative stone is to be laid to mark the progress of work on a new £6m community-backed leisure centre for Gillingham.

The Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, Valerie Pitt-Rivers, will lay the stone as the guest of honour of the Three Rivers Partnership.

The Riversmeet Community Centre is due to open its doors next Spring.

A ceremony to mark the laying of the stone will be held on October 20 at 11am.
