HE’S Dorset’s newest tourist attraction – but visitors have wisely been keeping their distance from the whale that has spent the last few days swimming off the resort’s coast.
As reported in the Daily Echo on Wednesday, the northern bottlenose whale has been seen between Bournemouth Pier and Branksome over the last five days. The whale has been nicknamed Gilbert after the RNLI lifeguard who took his first picture.
Conservationists, who don’t know whether Gilbert is unwell, have warned people against approaching him, saying it could cause him distress or harm.
We are happy to receive your pictures of Gilbert but only if they are taken from the land. How to send photos
