QUESTIONS will be asked of councillors about the thousands of plastic pellets washed up on the beaches after the controversial Roar on the Shore firework display.
The display, a world record attempt during last month’s Bournemouth Air Festival, has angered conservationists after it emerged that plastic casings had been used instead of cardboard ones.
Boscombe West councillor Phil Stanley-Watts has pledged to raise the issue in the council chamber after the Daily Echo reported the story.
He said: ”Everyone was assured the fireworks would be biodegradable. I am horrified all these plastic pellets are now all over the beach and elsewhere. This is very damaging but I do understand they are being picked up.
“It is very embarrassing. It has been a very successful air show and this just takes away a bit of the thunder.”
He added: “I will be asking questions at the full council meeting next week to ensure this never happens again.”
