Lib Dem leader to face your questions

LIBERAL Democrat leader Nick Clegg will field questions on rebuilding parliamentary trust and the economy at a public meeting in Poole later this month.

The MP, who is bringing his series of Nick Clegg Meets events to Corfe Hills School, Broadstone, says the meeting, which he calls part of his “people’s politics”, is open to all.

Chaired by Daily Echo news editor Andy Martin, it promises no hand-picked audiences, no spin and no planted questions.

Mr Clegg said: “I am looking forward to having a discussion with the people of Mid Dorset and North Poole about problems they are facing and how together we can solve them.

“Since becoming leader of the Liberal Democrats I have travelled up and down the country listening to the concerns of thousands of people and families.

“It is now more important than ever for politicians to get out of Westminster and engage with people about how to rebuild our economy and restore trust in politics.”

Mid Dorset and North Poole MP Annette Brooke said: “I am sure that the local residents will relish the opportunity to discuss the issues they care most about with Nick.

“I know that Nick will be interested to learn about the problems faced by local people during the recession and other issues that affect us here, such as building on the green belt and looking after our NHS.”

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 21, at 5.15pm for a 5.30pm start.
