A SCHOOL on a North Dorset army camp is about to get a face-lift.
Plans to demolish and replace a teaching block at Downlands Community School on Blandford Camp have been submitted to district and county planners.
School governor Bob Brannigan said the school was delighted that the project had reached the formal planning stage. “The job has been on the county council’s books for some stage. The fabric of the existing classroom has reached a stage where it’s better to replace than to refurbish.
“The new building will be a more environmentally and learning-friendly environment,” said Mr Brannigan.
The new teaching block, planned for an area of ground to the west of the school’s main building, will house the school’s key stage two pupils.
A public consultation on the new classroom is due to end on August 20. For more information visit dorsetforyou.com.
