THOUSANDS of pounds worth of unique jewellery was stolen by raiders.
Police are appealing for information after the £7,000 haul was snatched from Lime Kiln Cottage guesthouse at Chaldon Herring, near Winfrith.
PC Paul Holman of Wareham police said: “The majority of this jewellery was handmade and is consequently unique.
“The owner, a 50-year-old woman, kept her jewellery in a concealed place and rarely used it – this is why she is not sure when the jewellery first went |missing.
“I am appealing to any jewellers or goldsmiths who have been offered a large amount of bespoke jewellery in unusual circumstances, or perhaps for an unusually small amount of money, to contact me urgently.”
The items include an emerald and diamond band ring, a dark blue sapphire and diamond band ring, a pearl necklace, a two tone gold bracelet, a large Celtic-style quartz broach and around 20 other items.
PC Holman appealed to anyone who witnessed the theft – which happened sometime between June 6 and July 18 – or had information about it to get in touch.
Call police on 01202 222222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
