IT IS all very well Bournemouth council announcing ambitious plans to regenerate the town centre, but the present policy of ever increasing pay parking around the town is bound to work against them.
Councillors obviously have no idea of how women shop.
They have no wish to pay to window shop nor be tied to a time.
Furthermore, pay parking persecutes the commuter, often in low-paid employment, and discourages the visitor.
So much for tourism.
The centre does not need more shops; it needs ones that are trading well due to a good footfall.
No loss of parking spaces! Wait until developers get a hold of the planning.
