THE devastated mum of tragic Nick Verron has told how his family is struggling to come to terms with his horrific injuries.

Speaking from Southampton Hospital, where her son lies in a critical and life-threatening condition, Sue Verron said Nick’s brother, 22-year-old Alex, is “absolutely devastated – it’s crushing him”.

Nick, 25, was in Roumelia Lane in Boscombe in the early hours of Saturday morning when he was allegedly attacked.

He was taken to Poole Hospital but has since been transferred to the specialist neurological unit at Southampton with massive head injuries.

“If we can prevent one other family from going through what we’re going through then it will be some comfort to us,” said Sue.

“Nick is a highly successful telecoms salesman and he’s had friends, colleagues and school friends keeping up a constant stream of visitors at this bedside. He’s also had messages of support from all over the world.”

She thanked passers-by who helped her son after the incident, which happened at 1.15am, and praised the efforts of doctors and nurses “working so hard to look after my son”.

Police were also praised for their help in looking after the family.

Mr Verron is a business development manager for Poseidon Telecom Services Ltd in Cobham Road, Ferndown, and lives in Boscombe.

His boss, David Hamer, said: “Nick is one of the youngest to work here and one of the best – he is very bright and intelligent.”
