A 10-YEAR-OLD girl was rescued by firefighters after falling down a disused pit near Wool on Sunday afternoon.
The girl was trapped and impaled in her abdomen by a branch at the incident in Lower Hillside Road.
A specialist rope rescue team was called to the scene. They successfully removed the girl from the pit.
She was taken by air ambulance to hospital where her condition was described as “stable”.
