IF you put your best foot forward in Hinton St Mary you can walk a new footpath to Sturminster Newton High School.
The new route runs along the B3092 from Lower Cross and joins existing pavements on Bath Road at Yewstock.
Blackmore Vale councillor, David Fox, welcomed the footpath, which he said had been in demand from generations of Sturminster and Hinton residents.
“It was being suggested when I attended the High School 35 years ago and will benefit the whole community, particularly school children and the less mobile,” said Cllr Fox.
The pathway is the first project to be completed using Dorset County Council’s Rural Roads Protocol, which aims to declutter the countryside by promoting safer driving through design, rather than warning signs.
A wild flower verge has been planted alongside the new path.
