A HOLLYWOOD film star who grew up in Bournemouth has had an expletive-laden rant uploaded to the internet.

Christian Bale unleashed the tirade of abuse on the set of Terminator: Salvation against the film’s director of photography, Shane Hurlbut, for distracting him during a scene by starting to move lights.

A clip from his outburst has been circulating online websites for the past few days, and a dance remix and a drum and bass remix using Bale’s bad language is also circulating online.

The rant includes Bale continuing to shout and swear, even when the director of photography tries to apologise, and threaten to walk out of the film if the man is not fired.

The incident happened in July last year just days before Bale was arrested following a family dispute in the Dorchester Hotel in London, shortly before the premiere of Batman The Dark Knight. No charges were never brought.

Bruce Franklin, the film’s assistant director, has defended the star, saying he was a “consummate professional” who had just had a bad day.

“If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove – it was the most emotional scene of the movie – and for him to get stopped in the middle of it… He is very intensively involved in his character,” he said.

Bale was born in Wales, and his family moved to Oxfordshire, Portugal and then Dorset where Bale attended Bournemouth School.
