CHERRIES have tonight released a statement confirming chairman Paul Baker has stepped down, after selling his share in the club to a consortium headed by Bournemouth businessman Adam Murry.

The Echo website revealed earlier this evening how Murry's group was poised to purchase Baker's 50 per cent shareholding.

Murry, who joined the club's board at the start of November, is fronting a group of local and national business people.

The statement read: "Cherries Chairman Paul Baker has today stepped down from the AFC Bournemouth board.

"He has this afternoon also sold his shareholding in AFC Bournemouth to a consortium headed by Bournemouth-based businessman Adam Murry.

"The club is holding a press conference at Dean Court on Friday at 10.30am where the new board will update the local media on the current situation at the club."

If it means starting at the very top of the tree namely the Board it may not be a bad thing for all concerned I have no proof one way or the other but going by some of the comments posted here on various articles Fresh blood with Fresh idead may help. Here's to a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Does this story have any truth to it? we have seen so many of them over the last few months including supposed photo's outside the Royal Bath to back them up but with nothing concrete, so is this just another Echo no real story or another chapter in this long running saga? I like many more want this over and done with so we at least have someone we can get behind for the future, this whole thing makes a joke of everything I have read on here in the last month, so what the hell is going on Echo???

Is this another story you found on a message board Mr Perrett?

Dear me and we still haven't had an apology for the story about how the club was going to be sold within days.

Got suckered that time didn't you. Sure this one hasn't come from the same sources?

It will never happen. The club is stumbling from one cliff hanger to another. Its a non viable business and under the current economic conditions will not make a profit. Supporters are fewer, those that still give their support have less to spend. It needs massive investment and investors can cherry pick what to buy and there are loads more bargains than a football club.

It wasn't Perrett. It was a chap called Meldrum who wrote about the "sale" to Pither.
Let's cut Mr Perrett a bit of slack this time. Who knows, it might be true!!!!!!
If this is real, Adam Murry must buy the club NOW and spend some money on a few new players and a new manager NOW.
In the meantime it's new years eve.
Let's all go out and have a good time. Happy New Year to EVERYONE.

Good for Harry, but he is only lending players. No way is any businessman going to put money in unless theres a fat profit in the short term.
Must be something the club has for sale but is is worth whats invested.

Oh Goody , just as I decided to outlay on another season ticket. I bet the cheque has been cashed already.

Silly me for being cynical but do you think that all this was in the plans when they offered the half price deals. Are we looking at another afcb limited ?

Love the security word club-bill, at least a sense of humour still exists on this site
