With reference to the letter from Mr Todd (January 18), a number of local councillors have been campaigning for many years for Borehamwood to have an improved library.
Brian York and I, along with the departed Bill Moir, attempted to get the library relocated to the former Tesco site long before the current lesiure facility was built, and certainly well before there was any talk of re-developing Elstree Way. The sites of the schools set to close offer great opportunities for community regeneration.
It is a great shame that Borehamwood and Elstree do not have a large, modern library to meet the needs of what is a fairly large population (given the facility available).
Brian York's call for a new library should be supported. My interests (and those of Brian York's too) are in Borehamwood, Mr Todd, and we will continue to campaign for better facilities for local residents.
We are doing it for no other reason, and I have never come across another councillor (Labour or Conservative) who is not dedicated to serving his or her local community.
