ACCORDING to statistics, more than a third of Britons believe in angels.

Are you one of them?

If so, you may be among thousands of people celebrating the seventh Angel Awareness Day on Sunday.

The day was founded by local woman Diana Cooper, who lives in West Moors.

Diana, the author of 16 books on mind-body-spirit issues, was inspired in 2002 to set aside a day on which people from all cultures and religions would be united through their acceptance of angels.

All over the world, various workshops will take place, covering topics from healing to connecting with your own guardian angel.

Diana initially didn’t have a spiritual or religious background but she now leads her life following angels’ advice.

It was only after hitting emotional rock bottom after a painful divorce she began to ask for their help.

“One day a six-foot angel walked into the room, and from then on I was taken on a wonderful journey,” she said.

When Diana appeared on ITV’s This Morning, the switchboard was jammed with 114,000 calls from people wanting to share their own angel stories.

With their inspiration, Diana became a healer and therapist and travels the world holding workshops.

The Diana Cooper School of Angels now has hundreds of teachers worldwide.

Another local woman who believes in angels is Fiona Grant, who lives in Ferndown.

She runs angel workshops, is a certified Angel Therapy practitioner and medium and holds a BSc in psychology.

Fiona claims that every single human being, without exception, is always 100 per cent connected to the angels.

“The angels constantly provide us with divine guidance,” she said.

“But due to fears, doubts and blocks we do not always receive the messages, and sometimes we dismiss the messages that we do receive as being wishful thinking or only our imagination.”

She explained that when you ask for help, angels can directly intervene or give you a sign that they are there.

Common tokens are a little white feather or a cloud in the shape of an angel.

Whatever it is, the sign will be personal to you.

“One day I was feeling very low and alone,” said Fiona. “I went to put the rubbish out that evening and when I opened the front door I was greeted by the most fantastic cloud formation.

“It was gossamer textured and in the shape of angel wings.”

According to angel therapists, there are four ways an angel can connect to you: l Firstly, through physical and emotional senses; l Secondly, through visions and dreams; l Thirdly, through words and sounds; l Fourthly, from ideas or just knowing something without being sure why.

“They can help with anything and everything,” said Fiona.

“From health issues to self-confidence, to finding a perfect present, to getting a parking space in a busy street!

“But you do have to ask for their help first. This can be mentally or out loud.”

So what’s the catch? Well, none, apparently.

“Angels are completely non-denominational, and their primary desire is to help you,” Fiona stressed.

“Their help comes with no conditions, and you don’t even need to believe in angels. All that you need to do is simply ask for their help.”
