A BRAVE woman narrowly avoided being mown down by thieves who drove a car at her when she tried to stop them stealing it.
Brave Kerry White, of Hasler Road, Poole, ran out into the street to confront the men who had stolen her partner's Ford Cortina Crusader just before midnight on Thursday.
But they drove straight for her when she tried to stop the car in nearby Tollerford Road.
DC Sarah-Jane Gedge of Poole police said: "She ran into the middle of the road and the car stopped, she shouted at the two men in the Cortina to get out but the car reversed and then the callous driver drove directly towards her.
"The courageous woman jumped out of the way and made a grab for a wing mirror but the speed of the car spun her round and she fell, banging her head on the windscreen pillar."
The distinctive customised Ford Cortina Crusader estate car is white, with blacked-out rear windows, alloy wheels and lowered suspension.
Kerry, 28, was taken by ambulance to Poole Hospital where she was treated for a head injury and concussion before being released.
DC Gedge added: "This was a callous act by the thieves and I'm committed to finding the two men who were seen driving off in the car. I'd urge anyone who knows the identity of the thieves or who knows the whereabouts of the car, to call the police."
The two men police are looking for are both white and in their late teens or early 20s. The driver was wearing a grey, long-sleeved jacket and baseball cap, and the front-seat passenger was wearing a long-sleeved dark top or jacket.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 222222.
