AN OFFICE worker had a miraculous escape after a sports car being pursued by police smashed into a window just feet from her desk.
The red two-seater Toyota MR2 was being followed by police cars before it crashed into the shop front window of Fashy on Alma Road in Winton.
Lynne Sorge, 48, from Southbourne, had been in the office for an hour on her own before the incident happened.
She said: "I heard the screech of brakes and I expected the car to come through the window.
"That would have been it for me. It would have been goodnight."
Shards of thick glass flew on to the floor and across her desk.
Although a piece struck her handbag, she was unharmed.
She added: "I think that someone up there likes me today.
"But I am a nervous wreck now."
Mark Jeffery, who works next door in Western Union, and Andy Fowler, who was driving past at the time, ran into her office and helped her out.
Mr Fowler said: "I was just approaching the traffic lights and I saw the whole thing happen.
"When I realised there was a lady in the office, I thought I just have to get her out of there'."
Vivian Davies from Bluebird Care, a business next door, said: "I saw the smoke from the tyres and this red thing just flew past the window."
The occupants of the car were uninjured.
Two men were arrested and are helping police with their enquiries.
- Anyone who witnessed the accident or the manner of the car's driving before the crash on Monday, June 16, should contact Dorset Police's traffic unit on 01202 222222.
