Wendy takes off (10 years at least)

FANS of reality TV makeover shows will have seen contenders being nipped, tucked and tweaked in a quest to recapture their youth.

But 42-year-old Wendy Kenny managed to turn the clock back 10 years without going anywhere near a surgeon's knife.

Wendy, who has two young children, won around £1,500 worth of cosmetic treatments plus a designer dress and shoes in a Dorset Society competition.

"I never normally enter competitions but this time the timing was just right," she explains. "I was feeling like a really frumpy mum. I'd had a string of bad nights as my youngest is still not sleeping through the night so I was feeling tired and a bit down.

"When I saw the competition I thought it would be lovely to do something for me and not feel like a mum for a change."

The Bournemouth mum, who is also a project manager for BP, says she used to be more into her sports than her appearance.

"I always used to be quite a sporty person - I used to like rock climbing, karate and athletics - well, before I had kids anyway!

"I was never one for wearing lots of make-up or getting dolled up unless I was going out for the evening.

"People always used to say I looked young for my age but recently I was starting to feel as if the years were finally catching up with me through lack of sleep!"

Wendy had several Botox injections and skin fillers to iron out any lines on her face at the Pour Vous Cosmetic Clinic in Canford Cliffs and then her teeth whitened with a Brite Smile treatment at the Madeira Road Dental Practice in Parkstone.

"Dr Awad is real artiste and she knows exactly what I wanted. I'm quite a smiley, animated person so I still wanted to have some movement in my face.

"The effect of the Botox and the skin fillers was really instantaneous and dramatic and my teeth went up by nine shades, which was brilliant too"

Wendy, who lives with her husband and two daughters aged 18 months and four, also had eyelash extensions, her hair cut and coloured and was invited to choose a new designer dress from L'Amica and shoes from Posh Pause.

"I can see how it can be quite addictive once you start - I'm already thinking about what I can have done next!" she laughs, "I will definitely keep it up, though - I feel more feminine now. My husband certainly approves. I'm back to the woman he fancied all those years ago!"

  • With thanks to Dr Essaad Awad at Pour Vous Cosmetic Clinic and The Maderia Road Dental Practice in Parkstone.

Wendy's hair was cut and coloured by Toni & Guy in Poole; her eyelash extensions are by Gemma Pearce; her make-up is by Lorraine Coles at Yves Saint Laurent in Dingles, Bournemouth.

Wendy is wearing a Vivienne Westwood black dress from L'Amica and a pair of evening shoes from Posh Pause of Westbourne.
