A DOLPHIN was found dead on Bournemouth beach yesterday, the council has confirmed.

Passers-by spotted the dolphin washed up near Bournemouth pier on Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson for BCP Council said: “Sadly, at approximately 9.30am on Wednesday, December 23, the body of a dolphin was discovered on Bournemouth East beach.

“The dolphin has been removed and placed in a secure location.

“There were no obvious indications of cause of death but it is not uncommon for marine creatures to be found on the beach in this way.

“We will be sending a report and images to the Marine Conservation Society in order that they can look into the situation further should they deem it necessary.”
