FIFTY years of fashion have been celebrated with a two-day event at the Dolphin Centre in Poole which saw style talks, catwalk displays of new clothes from retailers, and beauty pop-ups.

‘Fashion in Time,’ reflected on how fashion has evolved throughout the centre’s 50 year history.

Over the course of the weekend, shoppers enjoyed visiting the Stylist Zone, to hear talks about summer workwear, casual daywear, hitting the beach in style and best dress for weddings.

Local bloggers, Rosemary Helen (Rosemary Helen XO) and Emma Longden (Even Angels Fall) hosted workshops to celebrate ‘Fashion in Time’ and visitors were given free sample goodie bags from The Fragrance Shop and The Perfume Shop.

Rosemary hosted a workshop in collaboration with The Body Shop to demonstrate that everybody can follow a skincare routine to suit their budget and time constraints.

On both days, shoppers were treated to a pop-up Beauty Zone igloo, which provided complimentary mini manicures and skincare advice from Bhavi Beauty, Boots and The Body Shop. There was also a social photo booth at the event and live entertainment from DJs, as well as a timeline and mood board to show how iconic fashion styles and trends have evolved over the years.

Centre manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, John Grinnell, said: “Our two-day fashion event was a huge success and we’re so grateful to all the retailers, stylists and bloggers that came together to celebrate our 50th anniversary. There was a great vibe at the event and passers-by were very happy to receive their free style advice.

“Achieving this milestone is certainly something to be celebrated by the town, so keep an eye on our social media pages for further announcements.”

The Dolphin Shopping Centre’s 50th anniversary is officially July 2019, having opened its doors on July 1 1969. The Dolphin was known for the first two decades as The Arndale Centre, before a newly refurbished centre opened in 1989 under its new name, the Dolphin Shopping Centre.
