A HOMELESS man who admitted a spree of offences - including 14 thefts in just over six months - has been jailed.

Richard Stubbs, 49, was sentenced for 22 offences at Poole Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The defendant routinely stole meat and Champagne from Marks and Spencer at Poole's Dolphin Centre. He also shoplifted from Waitrose in Ashley Road and Westbourne's Tesco Express and Central Convenience Store.

As well as the thefts, Stubbs admitted failing to surrender to custody, two counts of assault by beating, using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress, criminal damage, assaulting a PC and commission of a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge order for a period of 18 months for theft.

He also admitted a further count of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress, and the offence being racially aggravated.

Stubbs was sentenced to a total of five months in prison and ordered to pay a total of £150 in compensation to some of his victims.
