FLY-TIPPING has reared its head again in several spots along a rural lane in Christchurch.

A series of dumps have taken place in recent days in Hurn Court Lane, which can be accessed from opposite Bournemouth Airport.

Several grass verges were used by people to dispose of their waste, while a large pile of household items was dumped on the side of a gravel track near gates to private properties.

This fly-tip included two mattresses, wooden shelves and drawers and suitcases.

There was also a crutch and children’s car seat included in the waste, which was located near Moors River.

A letter from Bournemouth University addressed to a property in Boscombe was also found among the items.

Hurn Court Lane, which is currently closed at one end due to the ongoing work at Hurn Roundabout, is regularly used by cyclists, runners and horse riders, with farms and stables nearby.

A pair of horse riders, who were travelling past the site of the fly-tipping, told the Daily Echo it was “disgraceful” and something needed to be done.

The sightings at Hurn Court Lane came just a week after waste materials were found at a forest beauty spot less than a mile away.

Litter was located at the Forestry Commission-managed Ramsdown site.

Ward councillor Margaret Phipps, who has witnessed an increase in fly-tipping across the local area, said it was “disgusting”.

She added: “I think it is totally inconsiderate that anyone would do this sort of thing. Why can’t they dispose of their rubbish in a responsible manner?”
