A MAN was found with a "potentially serious head injury" in Boscombe in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called by the ambulance service at 2.24am who reported they had taken the man to hospital.

The man was found on Carysfort Road near to the junction with Hamilton Road.

A cordon was put in place to allow officers to examine the scene.

A man has now been arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and is assisting officers with enquiries.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of Bournemouth CID, said: "We continue to investigate the circumstances around how the man came to sustain the injury and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area or saw what happened to the man to please come forward.

"The timeframe we are specifically looking at is sometime between 11pm on Monday and the early hours of this morning.

"If you have any information that could assist with the investigation, please contact Dorset Police urgently or call Crimestoppers anonymously."
