PUNDIT Ian Wright insisted Harry Arter should have been sent off on his Cardiff City debut.
Signed on a season-long loan from Cherries on deadline day, Arter played 90 minutes of the Bluebirds’ 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday.
The midfielder wildly swept away the legs of Joselu after losing possession to Yoshinori Muto in the closing stages.
Arter received a yellow card from referee Craig Pawson but Wright said on Match of the Day that the punishment should have been worse.
Wright said: “The referee is in a position where he can see this.
"He's absolutely launched himself at him, Harry Arter, and that's a red card, simple as that."
Cardiff stopper Neil Etheridge saved from Kenedy in second-half stoppage time to keep the scoreline goal-less.
