FRAUDSTERS will learn children and pets' names in a bid to fool victims, Dorset residents have been warned.

Conmen claiming to represent Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are continuing to target people living in the county.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Fraudsters are clever, manipulative and they have done their homework. They know exactly what to say to get victims to trust them.

"They know your name, your address, your partner’s name, your children's name and your pet’s name.

"They find all of this out to trick you into believing their claim.

"Do not engage in conversation with anyone you suspect to be a fraudster.

"The more you engage with these people, the more chances you are giving them to convince you their scam is legitimate."
