EDDIE Howe earmarked Jack Wilshere as West Ham’s danger man ahead of Cherries’ reunion with the midfielder.

Wilshere spent the majority of the 2016-17 campaign on loan to Cherries from Arsenal, helping the Dorset club record their highest finish in the league ladder – ninth.

His season was ended prematurely by a broken leg sustained against Tottenham in April.

The England international joined West Ham on a free transfer this summer following his release by the Gunners.

Reflecting on Wilshere’s spell on the south coast, Cherries boss Howe said: “It was great for the group. We had a really good season and Jack was a huge part of that.

“He lifted the profile of the club and our players and it gave our players confidence to have someone like that within our squad.

“He also performed well on the pitch, which is hugely important.

“He remained fit for most of the season so when you reflect, it was a really beneficial loan for everybody.

“We wish him well in his new adventure with West Ham but we’ve got to try to stop him exhibiting his strengths on Saturday because he will be a big player for them.”
