PLANS to demolish a shop in Bovington and replace it with two stores and a pair of flats have been submitted.
Permission had been granted to build a flat above Bovi Stores in King George V Road and work started earlier this year.
However, a planning statement submitted with the latest application says that “the condition of the existing building” has led to its owner seeking permission for its demolition and replacement from Purbeck District Council.
It says that a new building would provide “higher quality properties”.
“The amount of development proposed has been carefully balanced to create an attractive scheme which makes the best use of this site whilst not creating an overbearing impact on neighbouring properties,” the planning statement adds.
“The proposal represents a good design solution to the site constraints which would respect the character of the surroundings.”
