POLICE are investigating after a suspected hoax call resulted in three fire engines being sent to an address.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said they had received a call from an adult reporting a house fire with one person trapped on Wednesday.
The fire service said they also had to call in retained staff to provide fire cover as a result.
Posting on Twitter, the fire service said it had occurred “at a time when we were already stretched with other incidents.”
Dorset Police said they were called by the fire service at 5.47pm on Wednesday reporting a suspected hoax call which amounted in a large amount of resources being sent to an address to Hamilton Close in Weymouth.
A spokesperson said: “We will be making follow-up enquiries.”
