BOURNEMOUTH University has renewed guidance on reporting alleged hate incidents and crimes.

The institution says the measures seek to protect any member of staff or student from abuse.

A reporting structure is outlined in the guidance to allow any abuse allegations to be investigated.

Changes made to the details link to other important policies that relate to conduct and welfare of staff and students at BU.

Anyone found in breach of the university’s rules will be subject to the relevant disciplinary procedure and, if appropriate, reported to the police.

The university says it will not tolerate unfair or unlawful treatment on grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity (including paternity), race (colour, ethnic or national background), religion or belief (including lack of belief), sex and sexual orientation.
