A MAN who drove just metres as his van was blocking another vehicle has been banned from the roads for a year after admitting drink driving.

Przemyslaw Golota had two beers with friends on July 17 before he was asked to move his vehicle from a driveway in Clarence Park Road, Bournemouth.

As the 36-year-old reversed the van, he struck a parked car.

The owner of the vehicle ran out to confront him and smelled alcohol on Golota’s breath.

Police were called and the defendant failed a roadside breath test. Further tests revealed he had 42 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The limit is 35mg.

Golota appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday to admit drink driving.

The defendant, who represented himself, said: “I apologise – I know there’s no excuse and it’s clearly my fault.”

He had driven less than 100 metres, the court heard.

Golota was fined £333 and ordered to pay a £33 surcharge and £85 costs. He was also banned from driving for 12 months.
