AN HISTORIC New Forest pub is hosting a drop-in session for people who want to learn about plans to give it a major facelift.

The 18th century Borough Arms in Avenue Road, Lymington, is run by licensees Carl and Debbie Millward, who aim to turn it into a vibrant social hub.

Debbie said: "As a former 18th Century Posting House, the Borough Arms is full of character and Carl and myself are determined to re-establish the pub as a real asset to Lymington.

"Our refurbishment plans will ensure that The Borough can stay at the true heart of the community, creating a fantastic space for our locals to relax and socialise in and enabling us to launch a delicious and expanded new food menu.”

"We hope to have the support of the community with us as we work to ensure the long-term

viability of this beautiful and historic pub and look forward to welcoming residents on

Wednesday to hear their feedback.”

The business is owned by Admiral Taverns, which says the couple are keen to build on its growing popularity.

A spokesman said: "The Millwards and Admiral Taverns are looking to restore the pub to its former glory, investing in a complete refurbishment of the pub’s interior and historic exterior.

"The investment will ensure the pub stays true to its heritage as a traditional community pub."

The renovation plans include a brand-new kitchen, with an expanded food menu featuring pub classics using locally sourced produce.

An open invitation has been offered to members of the public to attend the consultation afternoon on Wednesday (8.8) from 4pm to 8pm.

The Millwards and representatives from Admiral Taverns will be present to talk through the plans in detail and answer any questions.
