POOLE'S Brownsea Island has been named in a new list of Britain's happiest views.
The poll of 2,000 Brits saw 17 per cent of them name the island, in Poole Harbour, as a view which made them smile, placing it fifth in the top ten. Broadsands beach on Devon's Exmoor coast took first place, with 27 per cent of the vote.
Conducted by Best Western Great Britain, the survey also explored how well the votes correlated with the locations respondents had actually visited, with only 11 per cent admitting they had been to Brownsea.
Rob Paterson, chief executive at Best Western Great Britain, said: “Our survey highlights some of the best of British places guaranteed to put a smile on people’s faces, perfect for day trippers or holiday makers planning to make the most of the summer over the next few months."
