FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze alongside the railway line near Corfe Castle on Saturday afternoon
The fire service was called at 1.27pm to reports of a fire on the railway embankment.
Crews used two main lines and beaters to extinguish the fire involving approximately 200m by 80m of ground.
Police provided support and the B3351 was closed between Corfe Castle and the junction with Currendon Hill.
A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We had crews in attendance at a fire alongside the railway line.
"There were three pumping crews and one off road vehicle currently at the scene."
A crew from Swanage attended the scene in the evening to reinspect the site to ensure there were no further hotspots.
There are reports of slow traffic on the A351 southbound.
The closure of the B3351 caused traffic problems on the A351 and limited access to and from the Studland to Sandbanks ferry
