RESIDENTS are invited to attend a series of public meetings across the county this month about the proposed merger between Dorset Police and Devon and Cornwall Police.

The meetings are being held by Dorset’s Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill who will be on hand to answer questions and explain what the merger would mean for the county.

Meetings will take place at Digby Memorial Church Hall in Sherborne on August 14 between 9am and 12pm and Dursweston Village Hall in Blandford between 1.30pm and 5.30pm on the same day.

In Bournemouth, a meeting will be held at St Mark’s Church in Wallisdown Road on August 20 between 6pm and 8pm.

The final meeting will be held in Druitt Room at Christchurch Library on August 22 between 10am and 12pm.

Two meetings have already taken place in Ferndown and Wimborne.

People will also have chance to speak with police and Mr Underhill at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show on August 15 and Bournemouth Air Festival on August 31.

No final decisions have been made yet on the proposed merger and the public are encouraged to share their views by completing the Future Policing survey at futurepolicing.co.uk/survey
